Palaver Strings, in collaboration with Strange News, will explore what it means to be trapped through theater and music. Trapped will feature short excerpts from different scripts, including Goethe's Faust, Poe's The Telltale Heart, Stoker's Dracula, Gilman's The Yellow Wallpaper, Buchner's Woyzeck, Dumas' Count of Monte Cristo, Shakespeare's King Lear and Twelfth Night, and Ovid's Metamorphoses. Each selection will be paired with complementary musical excerpts. From tragic traps to comic ones, horrific traps to romantic ones, we will delve into ideas of confinement and deceit - literal and metaphorical, physical and psychological.
